Similar to Loan Modification Fraud and the Obama Refinance Scam, be leery of people that hold themselves out as “Government Loan Modification Specialist”. There is no such thing. The only people that you should use to help modify your loan are your lender or one of the HUD approved counseling agencies in your county or city. Scammers holding themselves out as government modification companies are only out to collect a fee or even worse, collect your personal information. If the latter part happens, you may find yourself being a victim of identify theft.
